Description
Mill Cottage is set at the edge of Yoxford, conveniently located halfway between Aldeburgh and Southwold, as well as many other popular locations.
The cottage was fully refurbished in May 2012, taking it back to its traditional cottage style. This includes striped floorboards and bespoke shutters and other modern features such a contemporary bathroom and fully fitted kitchen.
Please note that if booking with us we also charge a £100 refundable security deposit.
This cottage is our second home and is furnished as such. We welcome people who want to come and chill in our family home. We are fully family friendly and feature a whole host of family friendly features. We are also dog friendly and welcome one well behaved dog. We offer full servicing including cleaning, bed linen and towels.
The cottage has a lounge with a wood burning stove, and new TV and blu ray player as well as wi fi. The dining room seats four and has an inglenook fireplace (not used), ipod/iphone docking station and storage cupboards. The downstairs bathroom was refurbished in a very contemporary style with a wetroom, large bath and underfloor heating. There are two bedrooms one with a kingsize bed and another with two twin beds, designed to appeal to children, but not too much.
The kitchen is fully fitted and contains all the necessary utensils and more, including microwave, washer dryer, dishwasher, range cooker with halogen hob. The kitchen looks out over the garden and has a stable door.
The cottage has a good sized rear, secluded garden which has two deck areas and a lawn area. There is also an outdoor pizza oven.
The cottage has gas central heating and almost too much hot water!
There is ample parking over the road or on the same side in a layby 100 yards up the road.
Yoxford is a very pretty village with lots going on. Situated on the A12 it is very easy to find and easy to get to other places too. Within the village there is an excellent pub serving meals all day, a post offce that is a cafe and a cheese shop, a restaurant, a hotel, a convenience store and numerous antique shops. There are also lots of nice walks around the village, including footpaths around the fields. Other things you can do during your stay are cycling, golf and fishing.
Yoxford is located approximately halfway between Southwold and Aldeburgh, it is about a 20 minute drive to get to either resort. There is lots more to visit too, highlights include:
- Walberswick for crabbing, great pubs and a dog friendly sandy beach
- Orford and Framlingham Castles
- Easton Farm Park
- Minsmere Nature Reserve
- Dunwich Heath and beach
- Cycling routes
- Several golf courses near by
- Several fishing lakes nearby
- Africa Alive zoo
- Norfolk and Suffolk air museum
Further afield is Norwich, great for a day out and Ipswich whose revitalised docks are worth a visit. Jimmy's Farm is also close to Ipswich.

This beautiful county is situated to the south of Norfolk, with Cambridgeshire to the west, Essex to the south, and the North Sea to the east. It has much to offer the visitor, including the wetlands of the Broads, the Wool Towns, and a coastal strip to the east known as “The Sandlings”. There are over 5000km of marked paths as well as national cycle routes, along with country parks, nature reserves such as the Trimley Marshes, and picnic sites.
Suffolk’s notable towns include Ipswich (the county town), Felixstowe, Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.
West Suffolk is famed for its archaeological discoveries, especially that at Sutton Hoo in 1939. A grassy mound was found to be a ship burial ground containing a collection of Anglo-Saxon treasures, including a Sword of State, a shield, a helmet, gold and silver bowls, jewellery and a lyre. The site is now owned by the National Trust.
